MFJ Got High On Fashion

Readers, MFJ got High on Fashion last Friday, November 5, 2010, as I attended this urban couture fashion show hosted by Front House Management (FHM). If you remember, I posted about the event last month here. I was invited by FHM’s CEO, Karen Michelle. It was FHM’s first fashion show and I must say that they did pretty well for a first time. Let me tell you more about my experience. Click on the photos to enlarge. ๐Ÿ™‚

Parking was no issue at the Lofty Spaces, the venue for the event, High on Fashion. Upon entering the premises, a photographer was taking photos just outside the entrance.

After Hubby and I got our photo taken, we went inside to check in. I was greeted by Ms. Celia Sanchez, FHM’s Executive Director, along with two other women. I didn’t even have to mention my name or tell them which company I’m from because they already knew. Celia took us to our seats and mentioned she loves my blog. Awww, thanks Celia! ๐Ÿ™‚

We were then offered drinks and cupcakes from the Cake Diva.

Might I just add, I love their sweet white wine – fruity just the way I like it. ๐Ÿ™‚ They were very accommodating that I felt like a VIP. In terms of organizing the event and putting everything together, I have to say FHM did a great job. Even the goodie bags they gave their special guests (ahem, lol) were awesome: Pink Berry GC for two, scented candle, some Body Shop treats, soap from Lush, La Mode fashion magazine and discounts for The Limited. ๐Ÿ™‚

Here are some photos prior to the start. The venue, Lofty Spaces, is actually ideal for fashion shows. It reminds me of Exit Art studio in New York City where I saw Yigal Azroel Spring 2011. Actually, this is even more spacious but the look and feel is almost the same. Great choice of venue!

While waiting for the fashion show to start, I was approached by Isabel Morales of Style Geek. She recognized me and I recognized her too because we recently came across each other’s websites. While we chatted, Celia introduced us to the designers who were showing their pieces that night. I wasn’t able to take photos with designer Elia de Leon who recently showed her collection at New York Fashion Week 2010.

Celia also introduced us to fellow fashionistas in attendance: Rachel Courts of The Fashionistas, LaMirica London from The Dallas Examiner and a few others. Aside from Rachel Courts and Isabel Morales, another VIP in attendance was New York fashion show producer & stylist Ron Smith. The show was hosted by Eric Oliver.

I will be posting the fashion show photos and video on another post because there are just so many of them. Also so I can give you a better/more detailed review of each line/collection.

with CEO Karen Michelle, thank you so much for inviting me

And here are some photos just before we headed out. ๐Ÿ™‚

Overall, it was a fun night for everyone. Front House Management did a great job putting together this fashion show – from venue to sponsors, to planning the whole event and organizing everything else. At the same time, they were all so friendly and accommodating that I won’t hesitate going to another one of their events in the future. The only thing that they need to improve on is advertisement. But of course, they will get there…. and it’s also all up to you my Dear Fashionable Dallas Readers! We need to support our local designers. We need to support such fashion events so that Dallas can make a name in the fashion world! Are you with me? ๐Ÿ™‚
