Last week, I caught up with Tiffany & Co. Leather Designers, Richard Lambertson and John Truex. This time around, it was a more informal interview, being it the third. You know third time’s a charm! It was more like familiar faces catching up with the latest and the greatest that is their Tiffany & Co. Leather Fall 2012 Collection!
Tiffany & Co. Leather Fall 2012
A couple of weeks ago, I shared with you the Tiffany & Co. Leather Collection for Fall 2012 look book. But it was only last week that I got to see the bags in person and they didn’t disappoint. These photos don’t do them justice especially when you’ve tried them on! They were even more wonderful being carried by the hand or hanging on your shoulder!
This Fall 2012, the designers came up with new silhouettes and colors as seen in the beautiful Sloane twist top handle bag in Florentine blue. This is actually John Truex’s favorite piece this season. The twist handle and hair calf even makes for a more interesting arm candy.
Below is the Amelia tote in the back and like I mentioned in the previous Tiffany feature, it’s such a great work bag. I tried the brown on and I actually fell in love. I’ve been thinking of what Tiffany bag to get soon and this might be it, actually. I love that it can be carried by hand or on the shoulder with it’s chain strap. And the suede make’s it even more luxe. It comes in onyx (black), espresso (brown), Florentine blue and plum, but it also comes in animal prints with hair calf. I’m still thinking if I’m going with the espresso or the leopard print… What do you think?
While chatting with John Truex, I asked which pieces from their Fall 2012 Collection are more on the trendy side. But as he pointed out, “Tiffany & Co. offers timeless pieces that never go out of trend“. They are such great investment pieces that you can use today, next season or even the next decade. Take for example this Vivian clutch I’m carrying below, the animal print is so now but as it is – is a timeless piece. I can see my Mom carrying it. I can see myself carrying it after a decade or so. But at the same time, I can see myself carrying it now. Think Holiday parties and cocktails this November and December!
And speaking of timeless pieces, if you’re looking for a nice clutch for your upcoming Holiday parties, may I suggest the bracelet bag in black satin below? It comes in different colors too but what I love most about it is the bracelet chain part – how beautiful is that? Imagine that bracelet wrapping your hand like a Tiffany bracelet would. But wait, it’s not a bracelet! It’s a beautiful bag that has all your party essentials – your phone and your M.I.L.K – money, ID, lip color and keys.
Another gorgeous clutch that I fell in love with was the Daphne clutch in gold. You know I’m a gold person and when John took this clutch and let me try it, my heart stopped. It was lovely and it actually matched my outfit too. What do you think?
Now if you want a less serious type of clutch for just about anything, you probably saw my tweet/instagram/fb photo below. It’s the Wrist pochette in Tiffany Blue (also comes in 5 other colors) that’s like a wallet that transforms to a wristlet or a mini shoulder/cross-body bag – perfect for night outs or running errands. You know those times when you only need to bring your wallet and phone? Well this is it but better. It offers more flexibility because you only need to hang it on your shoulder and you can actually use your hands for carrying those groceries, coffee, reading materials, mail and everything else that keep your hands full.
We chatted up some more and talked about inspirations behind their collection. John keeps with him this cute Little Black Book journal where he puts tidbits of things that he comes across on a day-to-day basis. While I was there, he wrote down notes of things that caught his eye for their next design. They take inspiration from just about anything and everything that happens in life, like romance, beauty, art, shapes and colors that they see everyday, daily occurrences and life itself.
When asked what we can expect from their Spring 2013 collection, he mentioned bright colors and new silhouettes. And I even saw one of the Spring 2013 bags which I actually LOVE, LOVE, LOVE. I can’t show it to you yet because it hasn’t been released but let me tell you, it was beyond gorgeous! I want, no, I NEED that bag for sure! Now I’m looking forward to Spring.
To wrap up our meeting, I asked the two Tiffany & Co. leather designers their top 3 picks for a Holiday Gift Guide and you can read about it here.
Once more, I’d like to thank Tiffany & Co. for having me in their Dallas boutique at Northpark Center. Thanks to Richard Lambertson and John Truex for allowing me to interview you once more. And special thanks to Ms. Maggi Jones for coordinating everything.
