Last February 7th, my second Mercedes Benz Fashion Week (a.k.a. New York Fashion Week) show for the Fall/Winter 2014 collections was Emerson. For those who are not familiar with the brand, Emerson is the label from designer Jackie Fraser-Swan. The name is inspired by her ancestor, Ralph Waldo Emerson. When I heard about that, I knew I was in for a treat. I was so excited to have received an invitation and the collection did not disappoint. In fact, it’s one of my favorite FW14 collections from #NYFW. The play of girly and edgy was right up my alley. The black, white, sheer and purple? You bet I fell in love with each and every piece.
Wait ’til you’re announced
We’ve not yet lost all our graces
The hounds will stay in chains
Look upon your greatness
That you’ll send the call out…
Lorde’s song “Team” played as the lights went off. And after the last line above, there was like a sound of mirror breaking…
…and then boom! The first model came out and the song continued. I got the chills…
Emerson FW14 Mercedes Benz Fashion Week
Inspired by her ancestor, Ralph Waldo Emerson, Jackie Fraser-Swan encourages women to be themselves- to be leaders, not followers.
If you’d like to see the complete collection along with detailed shots and more photos as I wait for the show, head over to My Fashion Juice’s Facebook page. You’ll be greeted with 200+ photos from the Emerson FW14 show. Just a bit of a warning, you might want to grab a pair of studded Doc Martens or oxfords after seeing the photos! I loved the shoes paired with each of the pieces! They complete that cool girl look! Happy viewing and stay tuned for the other photos from other shows I attended. In case you missed, the photos from Academy of Art University FW14 show can be found here.
