The last couple of days have been crazy hectic, what with the busiest time of the year in terms of work, and also because we just moved to our new house! We closed last Monday and it has been days of packing, hauling, unpacking, decorating, and what not. Of course, one of the first things that we had to do was to set up a smart home security. For us, safety is of utmost importance. So I’m glad to be able to try out Ooma’s Home Security Solutions for the first time.
Do-It-Yourself Home Security Solutions with Ooma
Home security can be expensive. But with do-it-yourself home security solutions, you’re able to monitor your home for less. How? First, Ooma uses your internet service for free nationwide calling. That’s one of the reasons it’s more affordable. All you have to pay are the monthly applicable taxes and fees. Now with the home phone service, you’ll be able to include the do-it-yourself Home Security. Just like any home security, it’s 24/7 security but it costs next to nothing – like now, it’s only $3.99 a month!
Another reason why it’s cheaper is because it uses your home’s 911 to provide instant access to emergency dispatcher, bypassing expensive professional monitoring. With the app from your phone, you’ll be able to call 911 from anywhere as if you were at home – even if you’re out of the country! Your home address will be automatically sent to the emergency responders. At the same time, you’ll continue receiving real-time alerts all through the free Ooma Home Security mobile app. Yep, download the user-friendly app for free and enjoy the many modes and features of it too.
So How Do You Set It Up?
First, you’ll need an Ooma Telo and Ooma Home sensors. There are motion sensors, door or window sensors, and there’s also an optional water sensor. Soon they will have an integrated video camera among other additional sensors too.
- To get started, you must activate your device/account at Ooma before you proceed.
- Then, you’ll need to connect your Ooma Telo to your internet and plug it in to start.
- Next, download the Ooma app on your phone and log into your account. Set up your profile/home address.
- And lastly, start adding your sensors by pairing it in the app.
