It’s a hat plaid Halloween over here at My Fashion Juice. But I’m not in my Halloween costume my dear friends. I’m sharing some of Fall 2013 trends – from the oversized sweater, the plaid shirt, tie-waist trend and the booties. This is gonna be my uniform for the next couple of weeks. So I’m apologizing in advance if you’ll be seeing this style over and over again. I promise I will contain my affection for this look.
This beach ready wardrobe is a sure way to get all eyes on you at the beach! For one, most people will be clad in two-piece outfits, mini skirts, and short shorts among other beachwear. But why not try a classy and chic approach to lounging/strolling/eating by the beach? Arrive in a maxi skirt paired with a bandeau top just before you switch to your bathing suit and you will look like one classy vacationista!
My summer staples usually involve sheer tops and maxi skirts. What’s yours? Aside from shorts, tank tops and summer dresses indicative of the hottest days of the year, I always find myself reaching out for maxi skirts and sheer tops during the season.
Preparing for the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in NYC has got me all worked up. The event is less than 2 weeks away and I’ve been on full work mode emailing contacts and sponsors, planning my itinerary, submitting proposals, revamping the blog, joining a contest and I haven’t even started packing/planning outfits for the events I’m attending! And now, I’m a hot mess! I’m sick and working from the confines of my bed! Needless to say, I’ve got an outfit post for you taken one Saturday afternoon in my pleated maxi skirt and sweater! Oh being all covered up from head to toe shouldn’t mean compromising your sense of style! I layered on a vest and accessorized… even in the most unexpected places. Case in point, my blue shoe lace that actually matched my blue nails (not on purpose).
It’s not everyday that you hear orange and black together. In fact, it’s an unlikely color combination but we are gonna make it work. Besides, black is quite a universal color and is considered a neutral shade that goes with almost everything, right? So what happens when you use black and combine it with bright summer orange colors… and add to that pops of pink? A classy and refined summer outfit featuring toned down bright oranges and hot pinks.
Outfit of the day consists of a denim top mixed with a black maxi skirt. Some people hardly wear denim tops because they don’t know what to pair it with. It’s probably because people have been so accustomed to wearing denim pants almost everyday for casual outfits and knowing that it’s hard to mix denim on denim, they skip on the denim top instead. Denim on denim is another topic. They used to say never mix a denim top and a denim bottom. But when done right, it’s actually oh so chic. But that’s not what I’m here to talk about. I’m here to give you ideas on how to wear the denim top.
One great idea? Pair it with a black bottom – be it a maxi skirt, knee-length skirt, black trousers or black shorts – in sheer, cotton, jersey, leather or even lace among other types of fabrics! I wore a maxi skirt because it’s just too cold outside. Of course I only wore this at home. But if I were to wear this outside, well, I’d be wearing thermal tops and leggings plus some booties. Oh, and of course, I’ll be needing a long thick coat! 🙂 Actually, it’s one of my planned outfits for NY Fashion Week. But I’ll have to test it out first and see if it’s actually alright to wear this in freezing temperatures.
Oh, and before I forget, don’t forget to add a pop of color such as a camel or brown belt and some accessories to liven up the whole outfit! 🙂
