I’ve been meaning to share with you the latest news about one of my favorite brands (and perhaps all of ours), Tiffany & Co. Tiffany has designated a new design director, first female design director in the brand’s 177-year history, Francesca Amfitheatrof, trained jeweler and silversmith. I was supposed to join them at a blogger preview last September 3, in time for New York Fashion Week. However, I was arriving in NYC 2 days later. It would have been great to meet and talk to her about the new direction she’s taking and the new Tiffany T collection which I so LOVE!
In her new role as Tiffany’s design director, Francesca Amfitheatrof took the measure of the city—its power, energy and daring—and captured it in the graphic Tiffany T. Born in New York, Tiffany T is an icon for a new era. Amfitheatrof dedicates it to the world’s great cities and the global travelers who gravitate to art and culture—and the edge, where creativity sparks change.
“I wanted to create a symbol for modern life and its relentless energy that flows through New York and drives art and culture around the world,” she says. “This is just the beginning of what I hope to accomplish.”
Now do you understand why I’m so in love with the collection? Those Tiffany T thin bracelets and rings are my absolute favorite because I can stack them all up for a beautiful arm candy! I love what Amfitheatrof has done to this collection. It’s totally fresh and young, but keeping with the elegance Tiffany & Co. is known for.
On October 21st, Tiffany & Co. will host a lively discussion on What’s Modern Now, at a Google+ Hangout with Design Director Francesca Amfitheatrof, model Coco Rocha, Aimee Song of Song and Style and Elle fashion news director, Anne Slowey. These high-profile women will take the pulse of the moment, sharing their expertise in media, fashion and design and reflecting on the wider world of art, style and culture. Participants from around the world will have the opportunity to ask questions, which will be answered during the broadcast.
